Overcoming Habitual Sins

While we were still unbelieving and in darkness we all developed some form of habitual sins like...

...cursing when we're upset.
...impure or sexual thoughts.
...smoking and drinking.
...over eating when we're stressed.

And a whole lot more.  After we met Christ, accepted Him and learned the truth, we're faced with a serious struggle to break the old habit.

Recent study shows that the faster to break any habit is not by breaking it...but by changing it.

Let me explain. Let's say you have the bad habit of overeating. Whenever you feel the stress from work you tend to overeat. Whenever you do that, you feel better at least for a moment. Then you feel the guilt because you know that it isn't good for your body.

So how are you going to break that sinful habit?

The next time you feel that stress from work, instead of going to your favourite restaurant and overeat, just go get the Bible and meditate scriptures like in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that says... "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."

Meditating scriptures is a better way to get rid of stress related work than to punish your body by overeating.

That's why, I urge you to start memorizing scriptures for you to break any sinful habit. It's the easiest way I know to break any habit that displeases our Father.
